the farthest point from the sea

Walking up from the shore is no mean feat. It takes a daring person to leave the sea and face the land again. You have to move fast in case the waves catch you or the world spins and pulls you so that you will never return.
Remember the sound of the sea? Perhaps it is a sound you have never really heard - there are people who have never seen an ocean nor ever touched salt water that did not come from a tear.
These are people I would like to meet.
Look at a map - where in the world is the farthest point from any ocean? Do people live there - what is the name of their tribe?
Is it a desert or grassland, stretching green and dry and tight, splitting round an undermass of rock. A mountain - Kilimanjaro, Everest, Mount Fuji - maybe one of them?
